A movie about Minnesota named after a town inside the border of North Dakota, Fargo (1996) opens by panning back from a nonexistent statue of Paul Bunyan at the gateway to the town of Brainerd.

This scene comes just after the title card falsely declares the film to be a work of nonfiction.
